The Subscription
How does the subscription work?
Each month, we release a new curated volume for your collection. Depending on your subscription, it arrives either as a printed keepsake by post or as a beautifully designed digital edition delivered to your inbox. You choose your collection, your format, and how often you'd like to be billed — monthly, quarterly, or annually.
How does billing work?
When you subscribe, you're billed for your first volume right away. After that, your subscription renews automatically on the anniversary of your signup date — monthly, quarterly, or annually, depending on the plan you choose.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes, you can cancel whenever you like. To avoid being billed for the next cycle, cancel before your renewal date. Your subscription will finish out the cycle you've already paid for and simply won't renew.
What's your refund policy?
We begin curation and design work on each volume two to three months before its ship date, so refunds are generally not available once a term has begun.
However, if your volume arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive at all, contact us and we’ll send a replacement. If you’re ever genuinely unhappy early in a longer plan, write to us and we’ll do our best to make it right.
When will I receive my volume?
We release a new volume each month, on the 16th.
If you're already subscribed, your volume ships (or, for digital, arrives) on the 16th automatically.
If you're a new subscriber, subscribe by the 15th to receive that month's volume. Subscribe after the 15th and you'll begin with the following month's volume.
Is shipping included in the price?
Standard domestic shipping is included as part of your monthly subscription fee. For international delivery options, please contact us.
Can I give a subscription as a gift?
Yes, a subscription makes a lovely gift. At checkout, just enter the recipient's address in the shipping field so their volumes reach them. One thing to remember: subscriptions renew automatically, so if you intend a one-time gift, turn off auto-renew or cancel before the renewal date.
What kind of stories are included?
We curate timeless short fiction from the public domain: tales worth rediscovering. Each is presented with special design and care. Some stories are presented faithfully; others are thoughtfully adapted for length or content, and we’ll always tell you when a story has been adapted.
